Want to take your road test with us?

The road skills test is already included in our Teen Driver Education package and will be administered in our vehicle with the same instructor that the student completes their behind the wheel training with.

For outside students who have never trained with us, we do offer the following options:

• Stand alone road test with our vehicle and our examiner - $75 cash
• 1.5hr driving lesson / refresher and a road test - $210 cash
• 3hr driving lesson / refresher and a road test - $270 cash

We strongly encourage a refresher lesson before attempting the road test, even for those who know how to drive. A lesson will give us the opportunity to practice the skills that the student will be expected to perform on the road test, correct any mistakes, and ensure readiness for testing. It also allows the student time to get familiar with our vehicle and the person who will administer their test.

We want success for you, and the time spent preparing with one of our expert driving instructors will help to ensure your success.

We do not offer walk-in road tests at this time. All training sessions and road tests must be scheduled in advance.

We will ask you to send a picture of your valid SC beginners permit so that we can validate your eligibility for the road test, then we will be glad to get you scheduled! We offer driving lessons and road tests every day of the week.

To be eligible for the road test, you must have held your beginners permit for at least 180 days (if you are 15, 16, or 17) or 30 days (if you are 18 or older).

Applicants under the age of 17 must also complete a Teen Driver Education program consisting of 8hrs classroom instruction and 6hrs behind the wheel driving practice with a certified driving instructor before being eligible for a road test.

Our training vehicle is so easy to parallel park - it's unfair!

SC DMV Approved Driving/Road Test
Since 2012, 864 Drivers Ed has been an authorized Third Party Tester school. We administer the road test to students on behalf of the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles.

For this service, students will be taken on an SC DMV-approved route and allowed to complete the road test. If the student passes, we will submit the results to the DMV electronically before the student leaves our office. At that point, they can go to any DMV branch office, where they will need to complete a vision test and have their photo taken. The DMV will then print a temporary paper copy of their license and send the brand new drivers license in the mail a few days later.

The cost for the road test service will be $75.00, payable the date the road test is administered. It is not required for students to complete the road test through our school, as the SC DMV will still be administering the road test daily during the week. For students who have difficulty getting to the DMV during normal business hours, we offer test administration on weekends. All tests administered through our school are done in our vehicles, with our instructors.

The UNFAIR ADVANTAGE
The Unfair Advantage is just what it says. The vehicles that we use for training and testing have been selected on purpose to give the student the easiest way to maneuver a test car into and out of the parallel parking spot. The high position of the driver, large rear window, no rear trunk and very short wheelbase make our vehicles the easiest to take the road test in - the easiest way to pass your road test.

No other driving school has a vehicle that performs better on the road test. We know, we have tried them all.

Here we are in the middle of the SC DMV’s parallel park – just look at how much space there is in front of and behind our training and testing vehicle.

We can move all the way up to the back barricade of the parking area, leaving plenty of space in front of us to pull forward to the middle without receiving any penalties during the test.

Just look over your shoulder through the back window, you can back our training and testing vehicle all the way up to the barricade With the high seat position of the driver, the rear seats folded flat and the huge back window, it's very easy to back in without hitting the barricade. There is no trunk on this vehicle. Other driving school vehicles have trunks and you cannot see where the back end of the vehicle is. Remember: if you touch the barricade, you fail the test.

This is the unfair advantage of choosing 864 Drivers Ed. No other driving school makes it easier for you to pass the test.
