Our Instructors
The majority of our instructors are school teachers and coaches, friendly and used to teaching teens and getting the new drivers to replace questionable habits with safer life saving habits. Teens are far more likely to take advice and make meaningful changes to their driving habits when guided by their instructor than they will from a parent.
The interaction between teen driver and instructor in the driving school car is calm and friendly. The instructor is in control of the car with the instructor's brake pedal to take control of the car calmly when the teen gets into a dangerous situation. There is no shouting or other negative reaction, just a calm teacher / student interaction and guidance on how to handle a situation like that the next time it arises and how to avoid it by changing driving habits to detect issues before they become dangerous situations.
The relationship between child and parent in a car is very stressful for the student as they are dealing with a parent that is understandably nervous and on edge as the parent has no way to take control of the vehicle when getting into dangerous situations. This leads to shouting and the ramping up of tension between child and parent. Completely understandable. This is where our staff shine. They are hand selected for their excellent ability to teach and lead teens, then fully trained on how to take full control of the driving school car from the passenger / instructors seat. This is done calmly and the following gentle conversation with the student changes the way the student looks at driving, how they identify potential danger, how to make changes so they avoid danger and finally how to react as safely as possible when they do find themselves in a dangerous situation.
This is what we as a driving school excel at. Our instructors get the most job satisfaction from being able to make these changes in the students driving habits. We know we are giving our students the ability to keep themselves safer out there on the road, avoiding minor accident that they would otherwise have had and reducing the severity of and accident they are just not able to avoid. The students are open to what we have to teach them because the interaction between instructor and student is calm, non-judgmental and the advice and guidance from the instructor is accepted and implemented.
