Teen/New Driver Defensive Driving Course

Our instructors are friendly, experienced, and knowledgeable

This is the course required by the Department of Motor Vehicles for students under the age of 17 who have permits and are looking to obtain a conditional or restricted driver’s license (though we don't limit it to just those!) This course consists of eight (8) hours of classroom instruction and six (6) hours of behind-the-wheel driving instruction with a qualified instructor. After completion of this course, students will be given an insurance discount certificate as well as a PDLA form, which certifies that the student has completed all requirements before being eligible to take the road test. Then, we also administer a SC DMV approved road test in our vehicle and with one of our examiners!

Our eight (8) hour driver education classroom sessions are held in person on Saturdays at convenient locations across South Carolina. We also have virtual Zoom class options on Saturdays and Monday - Thursday evenings! The six (6) hours of behind-the-wheel instruction will be split up into two (2) lessons consisting of three (3) hours each. Students will be picked up for lessons from home, school, or work, and will be returned upon completion of each lesson. Driving lessons are scheduled based on the student’s availability, and may begin within a few days after successful completion of an eight (8) hour classroom session. Want to get your training done even faster? Check out our FAST TRACK program details below!

The total cost for the teen/new driver course is $460. We offer a payment plan to make this easier for students and for parents. The date of the class, you'll make your first payment of $260. After that, you pay $70 at each of the two (2) driving lessons and $60.00 at the time of the road test ($260 + $70 + $70 + $60 = $460) – payments made at the classroom session or at the driving lessons may be made in cash only. Due to the large number of returned checks, we no longer accept personal checks as a method of payment.

FAST TRACK Program

In a hurry to get your license? For those who just can't wait any longer, we offer a FAST TRACK program, which guarantees that a student who comes to one of our Saturday classes will be able to complete all driving sessions within one week of the class date. Many students are in a rush to get their required hours completed, so this guarantees that students who are in a rush are able to complete their lessons as quickly as possible. Fast Track is scheduled on a first come, first serve basis, and availability is extremely limited. The cost for the Fast Track program is $65, payable at the time of the classroom session.

Insurance Discount Class

This is the course required by insurance companies to qualify for an insurance discount. Insurance discounts are given to those students under the age of twenty-five (25) who have successfully completed a defensive driving course. The Insurance Discount Course will consist of eight (8) hours of classroom instruction. Classroom sessions are held on Saturdays in convenient locations across South Carolina. Students will receive an insurance discount certificate upon completion of the insurance discount course. This course is included in our Teen/ New Driver Course. The cost of our Insurance Discount Class is $120. We are unable to answer questions about how much you could save with this discount - please direct questions regarding savings and quotes to your insurance company.

SC DMV Approved Road Test

Since 2012, we have been approved and licensed through the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles as a "One Stop Shop" or Third Party Tester school, meaning that we are able to administer the road test to students. Instead of testing with a DMV examiner, you would test with us, using our vehicle. The road test is exactly the same as the one administered by the SC DMV. For this service, students will be taken on an SC DMV-approved test route and allowed to complete the road test. If the student passes, they will receive the proper documentation to take to a DMV field office, where the student will complete an eye exam, take a license picture, and the student's license will be printed. It's as easy as that! So why would you pay to test through our school and not the SC DMV if the road test is the same as the one administered by the SC DMV? It's simple - we call it our "UNFAIR ADVANTAGE" - combined with our very simple step-by-step process, our vehicles offer a higher than normal seating position, large windows, no rear trunk, and short wheelbase, which combine to allow the driver greater visibility, a smaller vehicle, and an easer time maneuvering and fitting the vehicle inside the parallel parking space. The pass rate on the road test for our students is over 98% - and we credit that to our excellent instructors and to our "UNFAIR ADVANTAGE". Additionally, we aren't as limited in our testing hours as the SC DMV is - we train and test seven days a week!

The cost for road test administration is $75 (discounted to $60 for those who have trained with us).

Currently, we offer the road test in Lyman, Greenville, Simpsonville/Fountain Inn, and Rock Hill. Road testing is offered by appointment only. Current or former students: contact your driving instructor directly to schedule a road test.

To be eligible for a road test, you must have held a valid SC Beginner's Permit for at least 180 days (30 days for those 18 or older). Before we schedule your road test, we will validate your eligibility to test.

Permit Class & Knowledge (Permit) Testing

Struggling to get your SC Beginner's Permit at the DMV? We can help! We offer a permit class every other Saturday at our Lyman class location for $50, which includes the written knowledge test. Currently, this is the only location that we offer the permit class. During the class, our instructor will train you on all the material you may be tested on, then allow you to take the test in a stress free environment. If you pass, we'll provide you with all the necessary documentation to take to the DMV to collect your permit! It's that easy!

The permit class is held every other Saturday evening at our Lyman class location at 205 Spartanburg Hwy. Lyman following our regular driver education class. We begin at 5:00pm and class usually lasts around 2 hours, though may go longer depending on how much support attendees require.

Permit classes are by appointment only and space is limited.

This service is only available to US citizens who are at least 15 years old and who have never before held a South Carolina beginner's permit. You will need to bring a form of identification with you. Accepted are: birth certificate, US passport, school ID (if in high school), or state ID.

Adult Driver Training & Refresher Lessons

Whether you're an immigrant, haven't driven in some time, or someone who was just never able to learn how to drive, we have options for you! Our instructors are very patient, understanding, and experienced in the unique challenges that come with training adults! For those aged 17 and above, we offer:

- 1.5 hours behind the wheel refesher lesson plus road test: $210

- 3 hours behind the wheel training: $210

- 3 hours behind the wheel training plus road test: $270

- SC DMV-approved road test: $75 (or $60 if you have completed training with us)

Additionally, if you are under the age of 25, you may benefit from completing our teen/ new driver program, which would include an insurance discount certificate at no additional cost. This certificate will save you money on your car insurance until you turn 25.

Please note that it is impossible to judge in advance how many lessons you may need to be ready to drive alone. It depends greatly on your level of experience, how well you drive and take direction, how quickly and how motivated you are to learn. Generally, the more practice you're able to get, the more comfortable you will feel on the road. In order to begin any behind the wheel training with us, you must have a valid South Carolina beginner's permit. If you haven't yet obtained your beginner's permit, we do offer a permit class on Saturday evenings just to help you with this! Adult training is offered by appointment only.

Unsure about which program may be best for you? Give us a call and we'll be happy to discuss your unique circumstances and what options may be available for you!
